Week 2 Recap PG Indoor Facility

Steve James
Week 2 of the PG Spring League was moved indoors to the PG Indoor Facility and Hitters Baseball Academy.  EMB Gold, Iowa Select, and Iowa Sticks competed in simulated games at the PG Indoor Facility and there are some performances worth noting.  Pitching was dominant on this day with some impressive showings.

Jackson Wentworth (2021 - Urbandale, IA) was impressive in his first inning of work.  He pitched at 80-83 MPH with his fastball and showed an advanced feel for his off speed stuff.  His delivery works well and there's more in the tank as he grows and gets stronger.

Casey Young (2020 - Winterset, IA) pitched at 80-83 MPH with a clean delivery.  He showed good pitch sequencing and threw a lot of strikes.

Jalen Martinez (2020 - Clive, IA) pitched at 80-82 MPH with a loose arm action.  He threw a curve ball at 62 MPH that showed good shape and bite to it.

Logan Smith (2020 - Grimes, IA) pitched at 81-83 MPH and competed in the zone well.  He threw a change up at 75 MPH and a curve ball at 71 MPH.

Mitch Randall (2020 - Waukee, IA) pitched at 81-83 MPH and threw a lot of strikes.  He has some present strength and repeats well.

Jackson Nove (2021 - Fairfax, IA) pitched at 80-81 MPH with a quick arm action.  Nove has a lot of upside and projects well.

Graysen Drezek (2020 - Davenport, IA) pitched at 81-83 MPH with a long arm action.  He competed in the strike zone and struck out 4 in his 2 innings of work.

Logan Schmitt (2020 - Independence, IA) pitched at 80-81 MPH with a quick arm action and heavy fastball.  Everything works in his delivery easy and he projects for more velocity.

Clayton Hromidko (2019 - Ely, IA) pitched at 83-84 MPH with his fastball with a quick arm action.  He's shown improving control this spring and threw more strikes on Sunday as well.

Jack Young (2020 - LeClaire, IA) pitched at 80-82 MPH and threw a lot of strikes.  He competed in the zone well and showed a quick arm.

Zach Sabers (2021 - Dubuque, IA) showed good receiving and blocking skills behind the plate.  He also showed good hitting tools.

Aaron Downs (2021 - Pella, IA) has shown very good hitting tools.  He barreled up a few baseballs on Sunday and showed good bat speed.

Logan Runde (2021 - Dubuque, IA) also showed good hitting tools with an easy swing.  He made good contact from the left side.
