Brayden Bakes (2023, Algonquin, Ill.) was one of the tournament’s top players, excelling on the mound and at the plate. He struck out seven batters and allowed just one hit over five innings with a fastball up to 79 mph and strong command. Bakes muscled out 11 hits (six for extra-bases) with a smooth line drive swing and some pull-side pop.

The tournament’s MVP, Joey Garlin (2023, Algonquin, Ill.) enjoyed a productive weekend. He stands in the box with an even, crouched stance and collected 10 hits with seven runs and seven RBIs. Garlin gets great hand extension and likes to hit the ball the opposite way. He gets great reads stealing bases, ultimately swiping seven in the tournament.

Cooper Cohn (2023, McHenry, Ill.) was this tournament’s MV-Pitcher, striking out 12 batters and walking none over six innings. From a high three-quarters arm slot Cohn features a fastball up to 81 mph and a sharp breaking ball that missed plenty of bats. Cohn has an electric delivery with smooth mechanics.

Max Kalk’s (2023, Appleton, Wis.) versatility had him playing shortstop, first base and catching more than a few innings. He is a great defender at short and displayed good blocking skills behind the plate. His efficient bat path and level swing gave him seven hits on the weekend, with three of those being extra-base hits.

Andrew Ressler (2023, Huntley, Ill.) featured simple, easy mechanics with a sinking fastball up to 82 mph. His lower half works well and he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot. Ressler paints the corners and fills the zone with fastballs.

Tyler Koscinski (2023, New Lenox, Ill.) showed a strong arm defensively, making athletic plays at shortstop and third base. He also reached 80 mph on the mound.

Ryan Bakes (2023, Algonquin, Ill.) showed clear power out of the leadoff spot for the Pro Player Canes. With a quick swing and quick hands, he finds plenty of barrels and the ball jumps off his bat. Bakes showed off a strong arm behind the plate and reached up to 79 mph on the mound.

Hayden Timm (2023, Hortonville, Wis.) showed good bat-to-ball skills, collecting eight hits (four extra-base hits). The power came easy with a big frame and his ability to stay behind the ball. With a closed stance, Timm often hits to the opposite field.

Pierce Anderson (2023, Johnston, Iowa) slugged this weekend’s lone home run. The righty features a big frame with a quick swing and great bat speed that allows him to hit baseballs hard.

Eli Zollar (2023, Green Bay, Wis.) played well on both sides of the ball. He pitched six shutout innings with repeatable mechanics and a lively fastball up to 80 mph. Zollar also collected seven hits, with three of those being extra-base hits.

Krew Bond (2023, Mendota, Ill.) hit two triples, showing clear speed around the bases. He has a quick swing with good rhythm and great timing of pitches.

Aidan McDermott (2023, Marion, Iowa) struck out seven batters over four shutout innings for the Xavier Saints. The tall righty features a fastball up to 77 mph and throws plenty of strikes.

Ryan Jefferson (2023, Mokena, Ill.) is a smooth, slick defender at shortstop with quick feet and a quick release. He showed speed on the basepaths and has room to grow.
