Florida Elite Scout Notes: Days 1 & 2

Power Baseball 2024 Platinum can get rolling in a hurry on all sides of the ball. Talan Bell (2024, Oviedo, Fla.) and Nicholas Palmi (2024, Saint Cloud, Fla.) did plenty of damage for the offense. Brayden Toro (2024, Oviedo, Fla.) set the tone on the mound. Bell is an exciting two-way prospect and committed to Florida State University. After a spirited moment in the game, Bell stepped to the plate and answered in a hurry, driving a ball down the right field line for a triple. Bell has a compact stroke and fast bat that creates real jump when squared. He has a huge baseball IQ and seems to always be in the middle of the action on both sides of the ball. The competitiveness just tops off the athletic package. Palmi had the biggest day for Power going 2-for-2 with a monster home run. There is strength at impact and it comes from a simple and effortless process. The eye-hand coordination and timing stood out during the game as he handled both sides of the plate well while also showing good strike zone discipline. The advanced approach was obvious.


Toro looked fantastic on the bump. There is deception in the delivery as he can hold coil with a slower motion from glide-to-stride. This allows the arm to whip through hard and fire mid-80s fastballs that jump hard on hitters. The heater that topped at 87 mph plays up and proved too much during the three-shutout innings. He struck out four and did not allow a run. The standard 11/5 shaped breaker that peaked in the mid-70s flashed sharp break while his overall feel for the zone stood out as much as the firm stuff.
