Young athletic righty Joseph Vaccarella (2025, Mickleton, N.J.) put on a show from the mound Sunday, striking out 8 through 5 innings of work. Aside from a live fastball up to 85 mph which simply can’t be ignored, Vaccarella’s best trait was his pitchability. For a 14-year-old, the righty knew how to mix pitches masterfully, starting the game fastball heavy and then transitioning to the off-speed the second and third time through the order. He dotted both sides of the plate from a high three-quarter slot and flashed the previously mentioned 11-5 curve to constantly keep hitters guessing. Vaccarella’s potential is just beginning to be tapped, and the 2025 name should have tons of continued success in the near future.
