HOUSTON, Texas -- East Texas was the site for one of the largest Perfect Game youth tournaments to date this past weekend, as 740 teams were in town to compete in the Houston Super Regional NIT. Those 740 teams were split into 24 different age divisions, from the youngest at the 6u level and the oldest in the 14u division.

In total, there were more than 100 different fields used for the tournament, and a large amount of the top-ranked youth teams in last fall's Perfect Game Youth Rankings were in attendance. Between the 9u and 14u divisions, there were 46 top-15 ranked teams playing in Houston.

13u Super Regional NIT Championship Recap

No. 7 seed BPA faced off against No. 1 seed ZT Elite Prospects 13U in the 2022 13U PG Houston Super Regional NIT championship game, with both squads undefeated with very talented rosters that led them to the title game at Premiere Baseball of Texas.

Zayne Hookala and Eric Zdunek combined to pitch a no-hitter for ZT Elite, and the team went on to win by a 5-0 final score. Hookala pitched six innings and struck out seven on 66 pitches, and was named the MV-Pitcher of the event for his efforts. Hookala was very impressive, and his stat line was outstanding. He pitched eight innings total, striking out 11 while not allowing a baserunner over the weekend.

Matthew Kelley, hitting out of the two-spot in the ZT Elite lineup, went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in the championship game. It was a joint effort to hoist the trophy, with three players contributing at least one run batted in for ZT Elite Prospects 13U: Hookala had three, Noah Everly added another, and Adrian Rosales joined in on the fun as well.

Everly, a top-50 prospect in the 2026 class, was named the tournament MVP. Everly hit .400 and collected six hits, which included two doubles, two home runs, with 11 runs batted in in seven games.

14u Super Regional NIT Championship Recap
