17u Mid-South Invite Scout Notes: Day 1

Cooper Phillips (2023, Lester, Ala.) is a stocky-framed young backstop that showed serious thump to the pull side. The set up is with a wide base and minimal striding load. The hands are quick, getting the foot down and the swing off on time. His lofted bat path is used to leverage the ball deep in the air. He is coming off an injury to the right leg but showed to be well on track back to dominating in the batter’s box. There’s plus power to all fields with a truly advanced feel for the barrel.
