Starting the early morning slot on the bump for Canes National 15u, Johnny Ortegae (2025, Boothwyn, Pa.) showed some solid stuff. The tall and strong 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander sat at 83-84 with the fastball and topped out at 85. His go-to secondary was a sharp slider that varied between short and medium lateral break. The pitched operated at 72-74 and proved to be a consistent out-pitch capable of missing bats. The Pennsylvania native worked exclusively with the fastball-slider combo and threw both with confidence and conviction. Ortegae possesses quality arm speed and given his physicality, the velocity should continue to jump.
