WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Prior to the start of the WWBA Freshman World Championships, you could ask people around the complex to list a handful of teams they’d think would be vying for the title and odds are you’d receive votes for both Wow Factor National 15u and Mba 2026 Scout Team. Entering the event Wow Factor was the top ranked team from this past season’s 14u circuit while Mba, formerly Burn Atlantic Navy, finished No. 6, setting the scene for what would be an eventful championship as both clubs swept through pool play and the bracket with 7-0 records apiece.

Florida commit Aiden Arnett got the scoring started for Mba with a SAC fly out to right field, plating leadoff hitter Lucas Cannady who reached via a 5-pitch walk to open the game. Wow Factor immediately countered with a threat of their own in the next half inning with a leadoff double from center fielder Ethan Stipp but starting pitcher Matthew Bysheim was able to induce a couple fly outs along with a ground ball to escape unscathed and get the bats back into the box.

Riding the momentum of Bysheim escaping the mini-jam and aided by a couple of walked to open the frame, a Luke Labbe single loaded the bases prior to a flair into center field off the bat of Ethan Wheeler to extend their lead to 2-0. With two outs on the board and another run coming across via a walk, another Florida commit, Brady Harris, delivered the big blow with a triple deep into the left field corner to empty the bases and extended it to a 6-0 lead through two.

The scoring subsided through the middle innings of the game as Wow Factor’s Caden Coleman and Bysheim exchanged zeroes from the third inning to the middle of the sixth when Mba went to Christopher Reali out of the bullpen.

It was quite the outing for Bysheim who more than rose to the occasion with five innings of shutout baseball, a span in which he struck out 4 while walking just 1 and scattered 3 hits while topping out at 83 mph with the fastball, keeping his club in the driver’s seat throughout. Prior to the start Bysheim made a pair of one inning appearances which proved to be a precursor to this extended look as he posted zeroes and punched out a pair.

It wasn’t until the final inning that the bats came alive for Mba again as they plated 4 more to make it an even 10 on the game as Arnett was at it again, this time doubling to score a pair prior to a single off the bat of Tyler Ellis through the right side.

Caden Coleman, a 2027 graduate, more than held his own against one of the most potent lineups in the tournament as he kept things close until the very end over 5 1/3 innings of work.

Following the dog pile, individual awards were presented:

MVP-Pitcher: Johnny Carver, LHP, Wow Factor

MVP: Brayden Harris, RHP/OF, Mba
