South Florida Giants 2026 Searching For Another Title

Riley Sheppard

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After posting a 5-0 mark at the 15U PG Endless Summer Classic and taking home the title, the Giants have continued their winning ways this week at the BCS National Championship.

“How they're approaching the plate has been really strong,” Giants coach Andres Beltran said. “They’re looking for the fastball early in the count to drive it the other way.”

Following back-to-back playoff victories, the Giants punched their ticket to a quarterfinal matchup against Dirtbags 15U Platinum who posted a 6-1 record heading in.

Left-hander Cullen Smith received the start for the Giants, tossing 95 pitches and striking out six before Blake Bagwell came on for relief in the top of the seventh.

“[Smith] was struggling a lot,” Beltran said. “So it was really big for him to come back in and finally shut the door for six innings straight and [Bagwell] was lights out.”

The Giants offense got things rolling right away with four straight batters getting on base to start. For Bagwell, the right-hander not only struck out two on the mound, but was also the first run following a leadoff walk, followed by Deangelo Davila driving in Grady Messner two batters later.

But before they could blink, Dirtbags shrunk the lead to one after an RBI double from Camden Blank to drive in Landon Elder who singled earlier in the inning.

Despite two scoreless innings from both teams, the Giants found a way to extend their lead to 4-1 after Jayden Indiviglia and Davis rounded the bases in the bottom of the sixth.

“Their energy,” Beltran said. “They bring it early and keep it the whole game, I really saw it at the end, they were chirping at each other back and forth.”

And while Dirtbags loaded the bases with nobody out and notching one run across, Bagwell’s mix of a low-80’s fastball and high-60’s curveball proved too much down the stretch.

The Giants are back in action on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. two wins away from making it back-to-back championships.
