Despite their record of 1-10-1, Southworth Navy has been pretty successful at the plate this season. Their team average ranks 9th in the 17 team field, which indicates a possible run in this tournament. Tyler Palmer is the undeniable leader on this team, hitting .500 on the season driving in a team high 17 runs.

PG Black is a team that many expected to have a better run this year, however, they just haven't been able to put it all together so far. Clark Younggreen is playing up a division and is the team's leader in hits. Dalton Delay has probably been the most consistent performer, however, and is hitting .329. He doesn't have a high velo, but he has a knack for getting base hits.

PG Navy bullied it's way to the Facility chmapionship through a balanced attack. Andrue Henry has probably been the most impressive of everyone on this team, crushing a league leading 8 HR's on the season. Henryis also second in avg velo and max velo, trailing only Andrew Killingsworth, the Nation's #205 ranked player.

Dothan Baseball Club (Kirkland Sports Performance) makes it's return to the PGNIL after winning a National Title in 2015. Dothan Grey, in particular had a rough season but has shown signs of promise while hitting for a team average of .379. This team is another that may make a surprise run if they can get some timely hits. The team is very balanced and there really isn't a  weakspot in the lineup. This #2/#15 game may be closer than some think.

Averagre-wise, Sothworth Red is the 2nd best team in the country, hitting .464 as a team. They are led by two of the best in the country, Trey Frahm (.570) who ranks 3rd in the country and Trevor Barajas (.545) ranking 4th. We expect Southworth Red to be a very tough out as they brough home the facility title at Southworth Hitting in Omaha, Nebraska.

Because of this, they face a more favorable draw than they could have in #13 seeded Dothan Red. Probably their best player, Ethan Young enters the postseason with a .325 average with the team lead in both runs (7) and RBI's (6).

Dothan Red comes into the playoffs with a record of 4-8 behind the leadership of Alabama commit Mekhian Jackson. Mekhian and his brother Jaeden have both put together fine seasons, hitting .449 and .423 respectively. This is another team that could be poised for a deep playoff run if they can find timely base hits. They are hitting .435 as a team, which ranks them 6th as a team in the league....much higher than their #13 overall seed.

They are led by the country's #125 ranked player in the class of 2021 in Coy Sarsfield, who has hit for a .476 clip this season. Ty Carlson has been another that has looked really good this year as well, hitting .543 (5th in the Nation) and mashing a HR. If anyone wants to win a title, this 3X reigning Champion team will be someone they have to go through.

This could be one of those sneaky 12/5 matchups that could end up being the upset that rocks the playoffs. Dothan White has hit an incredible .459 this year, 4th in the league despite only having 5 wins. The 16U division looks to be as strong as it's ever been. Dothan White has 2 hitters hitting over .500 in Lance Levine and Anthony Anderson, bothing hitting .512 and tied for 9th Nationally. If PG Red wants to bring home another title, they have to come to play against this #12 seed.

If you want to talk about consistancy and similarities, this is the team to do it. Ripa, Protaskey and Griese have been some of the main cogs of this team and their #'s are all eerily similar. Avg velo is so similar that it only differs by .1 mph between the 3 of them. They have all also hit for a similar average, ranging just 34 percentage points between the 3 of them. As a full team, they are hitting .463, which ranks 3rd Nationally. This will be a very difficult out for the #6 seed Dothan Blue.

As a group, they are hitting .390 and look to find some success again this weekend against #10 Wayne Finest out of New Jersey.

Wayne Finest is 1-2 in their last 3 games and are led by Matthew Krefting, who is hitting .300 on the season. In order to keep their season alive, however, they will need to find a way to score more runs. They are now averaging less than a run per game. With some timely hitting, Wayne Finest could win a game or two.

When you get to the 8/9 matchup, you have a game that can go either way. Howeverm you can also have two teams that possibly deserve a better seed. Southworth Purple has had a great year, going 8-4 and winning 4 straight. They are led by Tyler Vanderwerken, who is hitting .523 on the year, good fpr 7th Nationally. They also get a good bump of power from Ethan Hergert, who has blasted 2 HR's on the year.

Dothan Orange enters the playoffs sitting at an even .500. They are winners of their last 2 games and look to extend their winning streak into the playoffs. Like many of the Dothan teams, they have a very solid core of players and all are dangerous with the bat. They have only scored 31 runs this year, averaging about 2.5 runs per game. If they are hoping to make a run, they will need to get more timely hitting and score more runs.

The only team with a bye in the 16U division is Facility Champion Dothan Black out of Dothan Baseball Club in Dothan, Alabama. This team is absolutely loaded with all hitters above or near .500. They have arguably the best player in the league in Jake Killingsworth (1st in both velo catagories, batting average and RBI's) and they have shown they can put up a lot of runs, averaging over 11 runs per game. They have scored 38 runs more than any nearest competitor (98, Southworth Red) and stout a team average of .501. These guys look to be the team to beat!

Creighton Tuzzio (2024, Clarinda, Iowa) took the ball in the semi-final game and was able to get on the bump and carve for his team. Tuzzio is a taller 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame with plenty to like in the operation. The right-handed pitcher has a slower and more controlled operation as he works through the delivery. He lifts the leg up around the belt and then works through a three-quarters release with good whip through it. The fastball worked up to 86 mph on the fastball and held in the low- to mid-80s. He creates some angle on it with the taller & projectable frame. It runs arm-side and can be a problem for right-handed hitters. He also showed a low-70s curveball with a bigger 11/5 tilt to it and good depth to miss some bats. The Iowa Western commit threw 5.0 innings, allowing just 1 run, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts to his credit.   There’s no surprise here, but...

He mixed in a tight breaking ball with two plane movement that he had no problem mixing in any count keeping the opposing hitters off balanced in the box. Coming from a mid 3/4s slot there was some deception within the operation making it tough to pick the fastball up out of the hand. The frame has plenty of athleticism within with plenty of more room for additional strength as he continues to mature. Kovacs should be a fun follow as he continues to progress through high school. Ryan Riojas (‘26 TN) drives this...

Sophomore WWBA Scout Notes: Days 1-2 Extended look at Gunnar Garrison... 7 IP, 1 H, OER, 13 K, 1 BB (70% K) #WWBAWorlds @PG_FourCorners https://t.co/V89oASpD8r pic.twitter.com/tsP1mWCoNz — Perfect Game Scout (@PG_Scouting) September 21, 2023 Colorado right-hander Gunnar Garrison (2026, Eaton, Colo.) was magnificent in his start for Slammers Anderson 2026’s. The big and physical 6-foot-4, 210-pound arm threw a complete game, seven inning, one-hit shutout, striking out 13 and walking one. The fastball had downhill life to it, sitting in the 85-88 range for the entirety of the game. Garrison held the velocity and reached back for his fastest bullet of the game, at 89, in the seventh inning. Finishing the outing with 70% strikes, he filled up the zone and went right at hitters. He also induced swing-and-miss on a curveball, featuring late...

Jack Harley (2024, Mendham, NJ) put together a dominant performance at the plate in the WWBA NEQ, leading his team to a coveted Jupiter bid while also earning MVP-honors. The 6-foot-1 left-handed hitter showcased his advanced bat-to-ball skills on several occasions. He batted .643 with two doubles, a home run and six stolen bases. Harley utilizes a repeatable, synced-up stroke with clean separation into launch. He has a great feel for the barrel and creates good strength at impact to all parts of the diamond. The future Hokie recorded a hit in all six of his games and proved to be a reliable bat at the top-of-the-order for Clubhouse 2024 EvoShield. Harley’s build offers a good balance of strength and athleticism, making him a well-rounded prospect with intriguing upside moving forward.  .#VandyBoys commit Aiden O’Connell (‘24, NH) is back on the bump in the #NEQ...

Nathan Caldwell (2026, Columbia, S.C.) looked the part in the batter’s box as the Team Elite three-hole hitter had one of the hardest hit balls of the day. There’s really impressive bat speed and the ability to create violence and rotational acceleration through contact. He missiled a single during the game and there looks like there’s going to be pretty significant impact potential long term. He’s a strong kid with good indicators and offensive tools to like. Drew Borkowski (2026, Huntley, Ill.) showed plenty to like in the arm as he got the start in game one on the day for GRB. At 6-foot-1, 170-pounds he’s got a lanky frame with long limbs and plenty of room for physical projection. It’s a quick arm with solid arm speed throughout and he opened up sitting 85-87 mph with the fastball. The fastball showed good sinking life and he used it to get a lot...
