Diego Seastrunk is a 2006 infielder/right handed pitcher from Channelview HS in Texas, with a strong and compact 5'8", 180 lb. frame. We've seen Seastrunk play all over the infield and consider him one of the top defensive players in the 2006 class. He really stood out in the field in Atlanta. Seastrunk ran the 60 in 7.13 in Atlanta but we've seen him as a 6.7 type of runner in the past. He has very good first step quickness in the field and very good range. Seastrunk's has plus, plus arm strength at 88 mph and he makes accurate throws with a quick release. He made a couple of highlight plays at third base but has the same type of skills at shortstop and undoubtedly second base as well. Offensively, Seastrunk is a switch hitterhitter with a quick line drive swing from both sides. He might have a bit more bat speed from the left side but he's a legit switch hitter with good consistency from both sides. He has quick hands and likes to pull the ball. On the mound, Seastrunk threw 88 mph with a very sharp and deep 74 mph curveball. This young man can do it all and you have to ignore that he's 5-8 because he can really play. Seastrunk is also an outstanding student who has signed with Rice.
