2022 National Academic Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Jackson Gutta is a 2023 RHP/ with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Omaha, NE who attends Westside. Jackson has an average size and build. Working form th stretch only, he picks up his leg and remains tall, but then falls toward plate without much drive from the back leg. Due to lack of drive he is a short strider and timing is very important for release to be consistent. Needs to train on using the back side and lower half to add power and direction. Gutta has a high three-quarter release point so the downhill plane of pitches his there for sure.Fastball has a good sinking action to it from being a top to bottom release. Breaking ball comes out of fastball position and works well to deceive hitters. Offensively, Jackson has even base in box and a simple leg lift to load position. Bat speed is lacking some and lack of lower half strength or drive aides in soft contact. Gutta is very quick on his feet with a 60 yard dash time of 6.84 seconds. Some added strength and lower half training could pay off big moving forward. Jackson was named the 2022 National Academic Showcase Top Team List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
