Forrest Moore is a 2007 left hand pitcher from Parkview Baptist HS, residing in Baton Rouge, LA. Moore has a good pitcher's body with a strong and athletically proportioned 6'2" 190 lb. frame. One of the top lefties in this high school draft class, Moore ranked #18 among the PG National Top 85 pitchers. Some have made the mistake of calling him simply a feel lefty and there are times when it appears that is his strength. However, he can run his fastball up to 88 mph and has shown slightly above that before. He pitches from an over the top slot shallow backside arm action and good leveraged arm stroke. His delivery is sort of quick but fluid and generally on time. A good athlete, Moore repeats his delivery well and has excellent body control, which is part of the reason he is also a plus fielder of his position. He pounds the bottom of the zone with his mid-upper 80s fastball and has some movement on the arm side. Moore's curveball is a big breaker with 12/6ish shape and pretty good rolling action. He primarily uses his fastball to get outs, meaning that he is effective against both left and right hand hitters. Moore is a premium D1 caliber arm and even if he doesn't get a velocity spike this spring, he will still get strong draft consideration... though a bump up of 2-3 will really make him a hot commodity.
