Destin Hood is a 2008 SS/OF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Eight Mile (Mobile), AL who attends St. Pauls School. He has a very live and well put together build and looks like the football standout (WR) that he is. Hood was one of the big revelations of the event and proved it during batting practice, when he hit 7 balls out of the park. He showed a simple swing that you would have thought was a line drive/contact swing until the ball rocketed off the barrell and ended up 360-400 feet away seemingly every swing. Hood has exceptionally easy bat speed and easy power. His game approach was a bit more anxious and unbalanced than his BP swing but the same raw bat speed and ability were there. He could be a very special hitter down the road as he gets more repetitions. Hood is a primary shortstop now due to his athleticism but will likely be a centerfielder in the future. He has 6.6 speed and is reportedly faster than that and plenty of arm strength. It will be fun to watch him develop offensively! Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.
