2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Jarrod Freeman is a 2006 RHP/1B from Alta HS in Sandy, UT, with a 6'3", 187 lb. frame. Freeman was named to the top prospect team at the event and was one of the best pitchers at the showcase. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long and loose arm. His fastball topped out at 85, and it was an easy 85 with no effort. With his long limbs and arm action it is easy to project him to be a 90 mph guy in the future. Freeman had good arm side life on his fastball and threw it for strikes. As good as his fastball was, his breaking ball was his best pitch. It was nasty at times with late and sharp break at 75 mph with an 11/5 tilt. Freeman didn't allow a run in his 3 IP and struck out 4. When a runner did get on base, they had to try not to get picked off. Freeman has one of the quickest moves to first you will see. He is already a talented pitcher who looks to get better in the future. Freeman is a must follow, and is a very good student.
