Jordan Swagerty is a 2008 C/P with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Sachse, TX who attends Prestonwood Christian Academy. He has a lean and athletic build with a good combination of looseness and strength. Swagerty is one of the top 2-way prospects in the country. He didn't catch in HS this past spring because he played on the same team with 2006 Aflac All American catcher Cameron Rupp, but Swagerty is an All American catcher himself. He is very quick and athletic behind the plate. His throw/pop times in Cincinnati can be disregarded as he pitched the day before they were recorded. Swagerty is a switch hitter who shows better hitting mechanics and bat speed from the left side. He has very quick wrists and a fluid, easy swing and shows gap to gap type of power. As good as he is catching, he was probably more impressive on the mound in Cincinnati. Swagerty showed three average to plus pitches and great command and feel for the strike zone. Some of the best hitters in the country took some really poor hacks against him and he dominated. Swagerty's fastball was 88-92 mph with excellent life at the plate. His curveball was nasty up to 78 mph with sharp downer break and very tight spin. His change up had heavy sinking action and very good deception as well. Swagerty just toyed with the hitters and overmatched them. Scouts aren't going to look at a slender 6-1 pitcher quite the way they would at a switch-hitting catcher, but they'll have to make some sort of decision. Swagerty is a good student off the field. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.
