2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Anthony is a 2005 grad from Mission Bay High School is San Diego, California. At 5'10" 160 he has a lean projectable athletic build with a lot of room for added strength. Anthony has good clean actions in the middle infield with the hands and footwork to play SS at the college level. He plays defense with a confident flair that's fun to watch. Anthony's best defensive tool is his arm strength, which is national level strong (87 mph across the infield in drills). At the plate, Anthony has a line drive contact approach with very good balance and fundamentals. He showed the ability and bat speed to hit the ball up the gaps hard with the wood bat. He likes to attack the fastball early in the count. Although he is a primary shortstop, Anthony shows some promise on the mound, too. Although he is mechanically raw and doesn't get much use of his lower half, he can still get his fastball up to 88 mph with a 72 mph breaking ball. Overall, Anthony is a first class athlete with some pro level physical tools who is sure to get lots of attention from college coaches and MLB scouts.
