David Gates is a 2011 RHP with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Lubbock, TX who attends Lubbock Monterey HS. Slender projectable athletic build. Busy fast paced delivery with big leg raise and hand drop, high 3/4's to OH release, throws downhill, hides ball well. Mid 80's fastball, topped at 87 mph, occ hard tailing/sinking action on FB. Curveball shows depth at times, 2 plane break, more consistent CB spin from the stretch, nice fade on change up. Simplifying delivery first step to improving, has potential. Very good student.
