2003 South Underclass Showcase
Campbell is just entering his sophomore year in High School. He is a shortstop that appears to be a very good prospect to watch, for the 2006 draft. He is an outstanding athlete for his age and a throwback player with a controlled aggressive style of play. As one of the youngest players attending the South Underclass showcase, Campbell held nothing back and played like a veteran. He showed athleticism with his running (6.89 in the 60), throwing (82 mph across the infield) and his bat was electric. He is flat out fast in the infield, goes after everything and gets to most balls hit to both sides of him. Besides his range is a quick release that he didn’t show until the games that can make his 82 mph arm play out better. He made some gold glove type plays! His swing was advanced staying inside the ball and still driving it nicely with some surprising power. He is a gap to gap hitter and was not afraid to send the first pitch in some of his at-bats quickly into the gap. He jumps on strikes in any count. He is a player that will be one of the more recruited infielders in Texas over the next couple years. He projects in a big way. Big follow for 2006 !
