2005 National Showcase
Robby Alcombrack is a 2006 catcher/third baseman from Grass Valley, Ca with a solid build that shows good strength at 6-1, 200 lbs. He's a very polished defensive catcher who excels in all parts of the defensive game and has caught top level pitchers since early in his teen years. Alcombrack threw 79 mph in drills with a best pop time of 1.84 and has a very, very accurate arm in games. His best skills defensively might be blocking the ball; he anticipates well and has quick feet and no fear of getting in front of the ball. Alcombrack has a balanced swing with quick strong hands and the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields. He's flashed power for us in the past and opened some eyes after the Nationals by winning the Home Run Derby at the AFLAC All-American Game, so you know the power potential is there. Overall, Alcombrack has a very mature game and adjusting to the college game at Arizona State, where he has committed, or to professional ball should not be a big step. Highest Level Prospect.
