Dalton Guthrie is a 2014 SS/2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Sarasota, FL who attends Venice HS. Smaller slender build, has some wiry strength. 6.89 runner, very light and quick on his feet defensively, plus range with very good body control, can make all the plays, game slows down for him defensively, has the arm strength to stay at shortstop. Right handed hitter, spread stance, short swing with nice loose extension out front, quick hands, has bat speed and deceptive gap power, squares up well, hits to all fields and handles velocity well. Gamer with a high motor. Son of former MLB southpaw Mark Guthrie. Very good student, verbal commitment to Florida.
