2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Tyler Blandford is a 2006 RHP from Daviess County HS in Owensboro, KY, with a tall and slender 6'3'', 165 lb. frame. Blanford has a long arm action and very good arm speed. He has an unusual delivery but is surprisingly consistent with it and is able to repeat it and throw strikes. Blanford's fastball was up to 91 mph at the showcase with very good life and we've seen him up to 94 mph at other times. He has electric arm strength and could end up throwing even harder with physical maturity and some mechanical adjustments. Blandford threw a mid 70's breaking ball that had good spin and break and varied between curveball and slider depth. His change up was his best secondary pitch at 79 mph. He has a very high ceiling physically and will be a national level prospect who gets plenty of professsional attention. Blandford is a good student off the field.
