Blake Schwartz is a 2008 right handed pitcher/infielder from Rosemount, Minnesota, with a lean 6'2", 185 lb. frame. Schwartz throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm arch on the back side with good arm speed. His fastball topped out at 77 mph and was fairly straight due to his high release point. Schwartz also mixed in an 11 to 5 curveball at 62 mph, and a 68 mph changeup. Schwartz uses his lower half well in his delivery, and he showed good control. He has very good potential on the mound. His swing gets a bit long, but he stays balanced and has a nice line drive swing plane. Schwartz gets leverage in his swing from good use of his lower half. Defensively he showed good range in the infield with solid footwork. Schwartz has the tools to be a prospect on the mound and at the plate. He is also an outstanding student.
