To understand Molinaro, you have to know about his background and personality. His father ground out a long big league career as a left handed hitting utility player/pinch hitter and is one of the great characters in the baseball community. His son is pure baseball and it would be a great surprise to us if he didn’t earn all his future paychecks doing something in baseball, whether that be as a player, scout or coach. Molinaro’s given tools aren’t anything special, but his skills are exceptionally well developed. He’ll hit very well at the college level right away, both left handed and right handed. Molinaro’s stroke his short and direct with wood and he showed us the ability to work counts and get a pitch he could line drive to some field. Defensively, Molinaro projects as a second baseman in pro ball. He has solid hands and can field the ball to either side. He has enough arm to play SS or 2B at the highest level of college, it is more suited for 2B. This kid is a real baseball player and a winner. The only weakness in his game is his running ability. On the bases he's an above average runner, though. Bobby is an excellent student and is going to help a high level college program a lot.
