2014 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Sean Pat McDermott is a 2015 1B/3B, RHP with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Cartersville, GA who attends Adairsville. Extra-large, athletic build with broad shoulders and nice present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, moves well on his feet off the bag, fields the ball out front, quick feet on turns to second base, gets on top of throws from a short arm action with present strength. Also pitched, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action in the back. Keeps hands tight and close to body through delivery, has quickness in arm, gets across body at release but works down in the zone. Gets on top of fastball that topped 78 mph, generates nice fade to arm side at 72 mph and shows 11-5 shape to curveball, induced ground ball contact. Right-handed hitter, shows a compact stroke with loose hands a uses a big leg lift trigger. Nice approach at the plate, shows very good strength to the opposite field with carry off the barrel, looks to lift, some effort in swing, gets the barrel through the zone well with a nice feel to go with the pitch. Named to Southeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
