Michael Farinelli is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from New York, NY who attends Horace Mann HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and athleticism throughout, lean build with room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 6.94 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, shows quick feet moving to and through the ball, remains balanced on slow roller and shows a good first step moving laterally. Hands play well at the ball, quick transfer moving into a short and quick arm action that produces big velocity on throws, 91 mph was best, occasionally gets under the ball. Also pitched, small leg lift at start of delivery and works quickly, fast arm through the back and gets to a high three-quarters arm slot at release. Solid feel on the mound for secondary position, topped out at 87 mph and projects for more with additional lower half. Riding life to fastball, showed both a four and two-seam and will challenge hitters and change eye levels. Strong feel for 12-6 curveball, solid depth to the pitch, slider shorter than curveball but features hard break and shows good fade to changeup at 75, maintains arm speed on all pitches and consistently mixes. Righthanded hitter at the plate, begins with a spread stance and medium hand set in the box. Full swing through the swing and shows intent to drive the ball at point of contact. Front side occasionally goes early in swing but shows natural lift to swing path and ability to work all fields with sound bat speed. Has nice tools all around that will continue to develop. Named to Sunshine East Top Prospect List. Good student.
