Jack Ockerman is a 2017 OF/1B, LHP with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Nicholasville, KY who attends West Jessamine. Compact frame, lean athletic build with some room to fill out. Good overall athlete, solid body control and footspeed, ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. Moves well in the outfield, plays with great energy and has solid instincts, quick first step. Compact arm-action, comes through the ball well and throws show solid carry to bases. Left handed hitter, slightly open stance with narrow feet, high back elbow. Efficient, direct and short path to the baseball, flashes ability to go to the opposite field with pitches on the outer half, can spin over frontside with fluctuating lower half timing. Has the tools in bat speed, hand eye coordination, barrel utility to continue improving at the plate. Also pitches, leg lift just below the belt out of the windup, tight delivery with late momentum. Easy, fluid arm-action, ran fastball up to 79 mph, pitch has natural tailing action and slight sink, shows ability to locate to armside. Good confidence in curveball with solid spin, tight rotation for velocity, has feel to locate for called strikes or bury below the strike zone. Good student. Named to Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
