Jake Fredrickson is a 2017 1B/LHP with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Shoreline, WA who attends Shorewood. Large frame and shows present strength throughout. Primary first baseman with smooth, quick hands while funneling baseball and working through transfer. Baseball comes out of hand cleanly while throwing to second and third with solid carry, topped at 81 mph. Fundamental footwork while working around and coming off the bag. Left handed hitter with a slightly open, balanced stance. Creates slight front side coil at load. Quick hands with a direct path to contact. Creates a line drive swing plane working primarily to the middle of the field and pull side. Flashed good pop off the barrel when front side trigger was one time. Shows raw power potential that will continue to develop with physical maturity. Also pitched showing a good on line delivery while creating solid direction to the plate. Baseball comes out of hand cleanly form a compact three-quarters arm slot. Repeats releases point consistently allowing for command to the edges of the plate. Fastball has some sinking action with occasional arm side run in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Flahsed a slider with hard 1/7 shape with tight spin and late, sharp tilt in the low 70's. Showed clean, smooth mechanics throughout delivery. Good two way prospect. Excellent student. Named to 2016 NorCal Showcase Top Prospect List.
