Antonio Menendez is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Herndon, VA who attends Herndon HS. Tall and slender athletic build, very projectable physically. Side arm pitching style, long and loose arm action but hides the ball well in back and has obvious deception, separates hands early, medium effort and will spin off his hard front side at release. Good velocity from that slot, worked mostly lower 80's but topped out at 85 mph, works his fastball arm side and gets good running action, throws his fastball for strikes. Shows very good feel for a sweeping slider, will work it early in counts, slider has good spin and bite. Change up has good fading action and can be further developed. Not a comfortable at bat for right handed hitter. Good overall athlete, ran a 7.08 in the sixty and played multiple positions in the field, arm works very well from a higher slot as well, has fluid actions especially in the infield. Right handed hitter, big leg lift trigger, hits open, aggressive swing with some looseness and extension, gets too long at times but has bat speed and showed his power in games. Very interesting prospect who should keep getting better. Very good student, verbal commit to Wake Forest.
