Nico Vigil is a 2019 3B/SS/RHP with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Desert Vista HS. Large frame with an athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.56 sixty yard dash. Primary third baseman with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Throws from an extended arm action that generated good carry across the infield topping at 77 mph. Flashed tools and athletic actions that will continue to develop with maturity. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance. Creates some leverage and strength and contact from a loose, extended with path. Primarily used a mid-field approach but flashed the ability to turn barrel to contact producing loud contact with good carry to the pull side gap. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice with a fluid barrel path. Also pitched showing a big rock step to waist high leg kick delivery. Lower half drives to the plate with downhill actions, lands at a slight closed position but clears hips well. Compact arm circle back at separation and releases from a quick three-quarters slot. Fastball comes out of hand cleanly with some jump topping at 79 mph. Generated good plane with fastball down in the zone with occasional running actions. Curveball has 9/5 shape with good depth and late sweeping action in the mid 60's. Works quickly and repeats mechanics well. Consistently filled the strike zone while effectively changing speeds and inducing weak contact. Solid two way prospect that will continue to improve with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
