Brenden Kuehl is a 2017 C/ with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny Centennial. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.31 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, shows a low set with good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Strong, soft hands while receiving the baseball throughout the zone. Gains some ground to the bag while working out of crouch with replacing footwork. Quick, clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer with a compact arm circle to throwing position. Compact arm action at releases topping at 74 mph, best workout pop time of 2.10. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a balanced, open stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions generating some shift. Hands launch on a compact path creating and naturally lifted plane through extension. Primarily works the middle of the field, but shows the hand and barrel skills to work the baseball to all fields as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition.
