Chris Gerard is a 2018 LHP/OF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Wayne, NJ who attends Bergen Catholic. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill out moving forward. Ran a 7.08 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, balanced mechanics on the mound, lands slightly closed with front foot but works over front side well and is able to get on top of the ball from high three-quarters slot. Generates nice plane to fastball, mostly straight but topped at 84 mph and lived at the bottom of the zone with command to arm side. Curveball is a strong present pitch with sharp depth and 12-6 shape. Clean and athletic actions, ball comes out loose with plenty of balance to actions. Repeats well, strong arm with nice carry and accuracy to intended base. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and shifts weight through lower half moving into swing with a short stride. High back elbow to start, full swing through the zone with a line drive swing plane. Upper body swing with occasional lift at contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field with nice extension out front, shows a feel for the barrel and has ability to turn on ball. Two-way ability. Named to Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List. Good student.
