Grant Wood is a 2019 SS/RHP/2B with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Oak Ridge HS. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary shortstop with clean, loose footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange well. Primarily released from a loose three-quarters slot but flashed a lower slot while throwing on the run. Throws generate accurate carry across the infield topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a simple front side trigger and shifted into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with varying barrel planes through extension. Primarily look to work to the middle of the field but flashed developing barrel control to work the other way as well. Also pitched showing a simple, smooth paced delivery. Stays tall on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a loose three-quarters slot. Fastball had slight running action with sink in the upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that showed some fade to arm side in the low 70's. Consistently looked to work all three pitches to the bottom of the zone and induced weak contact. Outstanding student.
