Jake Karst is a 2016 C/3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Wichita, KS who attends Maize. Large, athletic build with broad shoulders and strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, higher arm slot with sound transfer, gets on top of throws well and shows solid arm strength to target, shorter stride with lower half and occasionally gets tall at release. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and high hand set to start. Upper body swing, shows quickness in hands and generates consistent line drive contact to pull side, shows a nice feel for barrel. Repeats swing well, has some strength coming off the barrel, loads hands back at start of swing, line drive swing path with nice bat speed coming through. Very good student.
