Travis Byrne is a 2018 RHP/3B with a 6-0 178 lb. frame from Closter, NJ who attends N Valley Reg H Old Tappan High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and nice present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.56 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, shows balance to delivery with a leg lift up past belt, slight spine tilt while staying tall on backside. Measured temp throughout delivery, full arm action through the back with some whip at release working to a three-quarters arm slot. Topped out at 83 mph with some extension out front and shows ability to generate plane to the bottom of the with short running life. Lands on line with front side, fastball comes out clean with some effort at release, attacks with fastball and mixed in an 11-5 shaped curveball with short depth at 70 mph, slows arm action slightly on changeup at 77 mph. Showed athleticism in the infield too, fields hte ball out front and moves to the ball with quick steps, balanced charging in, works through the backhand well, tight release with sound strength and carry across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, begins with a bent knee stance, weight begins on backside and shift it through well in swing. Occasionally gets to front side early, short and direct path to the ball with quickness to hands and steady line drive contact to the pull side. Generates nice bat speed, employs a pull side approach with solid contact off the barrel when squared up. Good student. Named to Mid Atlantic Underclass Top Prospect List.
