2016 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Colby Warren is a 2017 3B/1B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Roanoke Rapids, NC who attends Roanoke Rapids High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Posted a 7.25 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary third basemen, showed a long arm action, fields centered, sound footwork, and good arm strength up to 85 mph. At the plate, starts with a medium stance, high hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Level swing plane with good bat speed, and hand quickness through the zone. Elastic hand load and works well through zone. Will see swing continue to improve with additional lower half. Also pitched, open landing, deeper hip turn start, leg raise past waist, long, loose arm action, big arm circle, and threw from an extended three quarter arm slot. Directional towards the plate with arm strength, and occasional angle to the lower third. Fastball worked 77-81/83 mph with best life coming when working on top and getting downhill. Showed slider ay 67 mph with 10/4 shape with short depth and flashed tilt. Named to Top Prospect List.
