Aaron Zavala is a 2018 C with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Keizer, OR who attends South Salem HS. Medium frame with solid build. At the plate shows a straight stance and a quiet top half load. Rotational swing mechanics and a pull side approach. Tends to throw bat head out front with an uphill swing path that elevates the baseball. Has pop to pull side on pitches middle-in that can split the left center field gap. Tends to open front side early at times and limits outter half plate coverage. Worked out defensively from behind the plate and infield. Behind the plate shows a higher set with solid lateral quickness while shifting. Tends to reach for baseball out front while lower half starts to rotate before baseball is received. Longer arm circle with a clean release to second topping at 68 mph. Best pop 2.15. Shows room to quicken pop time with mechanical adjustments. Skills will continue to develop with physical development and maturity. Very good student as well.
