Matthew Beattie is a 2017 RHP/OF/1B with a 6-4 188 lb. frame from Glen Waverley, VIC who attends Haileybury College. Tall and lanky young build, very projectable physically, athletic look. Medium effort delivery, stays over his backside well, compact arm action in back with a whippy 3/4's arm slot, arm is fast and loose, short stride out front, gets downhill well. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, lots more velocity there with physical maturity, fastball has good late life and is located well down in the zone. Slider is a very good pitch, gets curveball depth at times with a 10/4 shape, has feel for his slider and throws it for strikes. Young pitcher with athleticism, two present pitches and tons of projection. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base and deep hands, pull and lift approach, rotational arm swing, will have power once he develops strength. International free agent.
