Hugo Garcia Gaytan is a 2017 C/3B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Mexico City. Medium frame with lean present build; body projects very well moving forward. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.44 seconds. Sets up to hit with high hand set and high back elbow, crouches a bit into load with medium base, leg lift timing mechanism. Shows quality hand speed in swing, inside-out hand path with intent to hit the ball to the opposite field, generates solid bat speed with a line drive swing plane. Can hit the ball squarely to all fields when on time with swing mechanics. Worked out defensively behind the plate, setting up a bit high but still showing solid flexibility. Receives cleanly, extended transfer from glove to hand, compact and quick arm action with overall quick release down to 2B. Throws clocked up to 70 MPH and he popped as low as 2.13 seconds. Good student.
