Shane Stafford is a 2021 OF/LHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Huntington Beach HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength throughout, additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, fields the ball out front and gets low at the ball, shows quickness to transfer and release, compact arm action with effort at release, works on top of throws with present carry and works through the ball. Also pitched, deliberate tempo to delivery with balance, leg lift up to belt and gets tall on backside.Similar short arm action with quick stroke in back, works to a high three-quarters release point. Works on top of the ball well and shows running life down in the zone, fastball topped out at 84 mph, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release. Slows arm on secondary pitches, curveball shows 1-7 shape; attacked hitters with fastball. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate.Gets closed moving into contact with gliding trigger, stays short to the ball and swings with intent. Keeps hands inside the ball, comfort hitting to pull side and shows ability to leverage at point of contact when extended out front with jump coming off the barrel. Good student.
