Mark Evans is a 2018 SS/ with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Yorktown, VA who attends York HS. Very good runner who recorded a showcase-best 60-yard dash time of 6.69 seconds; speed played well in-game with multiple stolen bases. Athletic frame with plenty of quick twitch muscle throughout. Primary shortstop with solid footwork and moves well laterally. Remains under control and balanced throughout with clean hands and overall comfortable actions. Righthanded hitter with a high hand set and high back elbow. Quickness to hands and a simple path to contact. Gets lower half involved to create torque through the hips. Can drive the ball well to all fields while handling the barrel and made consistent hard hit contact; exit velocity recorded up to 91 mph. Performed very well against live-pitching showing a strong approach and a lot of hard hit gap-to-gap contact. Named to the 2017 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
