Nicolas Roma is a 2020 C/RHP/OF with a 5-11 176 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Marist HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary catcher with with a low, side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with quick footwork. Clean exchange and released baseball quickly from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated solid carry to the bag topping at 75 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.15. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact well with lower half. Employed a clean, smooth line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel and generated sharp contact to the gaps when on time and squared. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Medium leg lift and stays balanced at gather. Compact arm circle and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball generated some downhill plane with occasional run to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Showed both a curveball and slider offering. Slider created shorter tilt to glove side with tight spin in the mid 70's. Curveball generated looser downward depth in the upper 60's. Challenged hitters with each offering and induced weak contact. Very good student as well.
