Brett Barfield is a 2022 LHP/1B with a 6-1 193 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends North Forsyth. Large, athletic frame with present physical strength proportioned throughout build well. Left-handed pitcher, begins with a side step moving into a leg lift up above belt; clean arm stroke through the backside working to a high three-quarters release point. Creates nice angle at release, fastball topped out at 89 mph with low spin rates, worked around the zone and maintained velocity well throughout, showed running life to arm side. Sound delivery overall, curveball shows 12-6 shape to it with nice depth up to 71 mph. Able to miss bats on the changeup up to 77 mph with late life towards the plate, more advanced of the two secondary offerings. Mixes three pitches for strikes. Good student. Verbal commitment to Florida State.
