Lawson Russell is a 2020 LHP/ with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Decatur, AL who attends Decatur HS. Extra large frame with a lean, wiry build and lots of room for physical projection and strength to be added. Broad shoulders and solid pitchers frame for a lefthanded pitcher-only. Short arm stroke with a tight release and hides the ball nicely. Higher three-quarters arm slot with good present arm speed. Throws easy with minimal effort. Fastball tops out at 84 mph and maintained velocity nicely throughout the appearance. Stays online and lands heel-first with good tempo. Smooth delivery and showed a 1/7 curveball with sharp bite. Very good feel for the pitch and can land the curveball effectively. Late life on the fastball. Very intriguing arm with high potential with additional mechanical tweaks. Good student.
