Daniel Banaitis is a 2017 RHP/C, OF, 1B with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Chatham, IL who attends Glenwood. Large frame with good strength throughout athletic build; projects some still as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.88 seconds. Primary pitcher, creates good angle to the plate from extended three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 73-76 MPH with good, heavy sinking life to the arm side, which resulted in weak contact including broken bats. Best secondary pitch was his changeup, thrown with deceptive arm speed and good fading life, did a very good job mixing and matching FB/CH. Also mixed in a curveball with good depth and shape; good eye level-changing pitch. Held velocity well and threw strikes. Sets up to hit from wide based stance with slightly closed front foot, lower hand set, sharp hand load pre-launch into slightly lofted swing plane. Successful at times at driving the ball into the air, good pull-side power. Worked out defensively behind the plate and at 1st base. Receives cleanly when catching and shows quick release, will do better to incorporate lower half more into throw down mechanics, shows solid raw arm strength and accuracy to the bag. Popped as low as 2.33 seconds. Fields cleanly at 1st base, shows good range to arm side with quick feet. Made accurate throws to both 2B and 3B, arm strength clocked up to 75 MPH. Excellent student.
