Zachary Coutts is a 2018 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Grand Junction, CO who attends Fruita Monument. Medium frame with an athletic build. Ran a 7.15 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with clean footwork while working around and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front with two hands prior to working through transfer. Flashed solid range to each side with clean actions while working through backhand. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing accurate carry to the bag, topped at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance. Stays behind contact well with rotational lower half actions to contact. Simple, repeatable barrel path to contact with a lien drive plane. Cleared hips well while attacking pitches located in with the ability to deliver the barrel with bat speed. Also pitched showing a balanced leg lift delivery from a three-quarters arm slot. Lands in line with the plate and flashed solid arm quickness through finish. Fastball hand some sinking action to the bottom of the zone in the low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with with solid spin and downer depth in the upper 60's. Flashed a changeup in the mid 70's, maintained arm speed with developing feel for pitch. Aggressively attacked hitters early and counts inducing weak contact. Very good student.
