2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Keaton Duckett is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Johnston, IA who attends Johnston. Medium frame with long limbs and lean build. Projects to support additional size and strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilized lower half while driving to the plate. Released form a high three-quarters arm slot generating some cross fire action at finish. Ball jumped out of hand well with a fastball offering that flashed running action to arm side in the mid to upper 80's, topped at 89 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with a deceptive arm action that matched fastball. Also flashed a changeup with slight arm side run in the mid to upper 70's. Consistently held velocity through each inning of the work while aggressively attacking the strike zone. Kept hitter off balance while changing speeds with developing feel for the edges of the plate. Flashed ability to located to outer edge when repeating arm action and release point. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and mechanical refinement. Good student.
