Carter Trice is a 2020 SS/RHP, MIF, OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Mechanicsville, VA who attends Lee Davis. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and shows ability to pick the backhand, quick and clean transfer with an extra step through release, adjusts to hops well, shows comfort changing slots on throws across with present arm strength. Graded out best from the outfield in this look, longs strides moving towards the ball, quick transfer into a compact and fast arm action, gets on top and shows lots of carry and arm strength, comes through the ball well and shows accuracy on throws. Also pitched, side step moving into a high leg lift, similar compact arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Stays on line and clears front side well; fastball topped out at 89 mph and worked at the knees, mostly true in life but creates plane. Switch hitter, more advanced skill at present from the right side; high hand set and back elbow at start, does a nice job of creating extension out front and shows looseness to hands and barrel, has fluidity to path. Utilizes a leg lift trigger from the left side, similar set up with a full swing path, contact oriented approach, stays inside the ball and looks to create contact to pull side. Named to Junior National Top Prospect List. Very good student.
