Blake Shelton is a 2022 1B/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Carter. He ran a 7.51 second sixty. A primary first baseman with a larger build and some present strength in the lower half. At first he works through the ball well and does a nice job covering ground as he gets off the base and into his feeds on the double play with accurate throws. On the mound he starts with a wide base into a side step and up to a belt high leg lift, he showed some body control int he delivery with a pause at the top of the lag lift before working down the mound maintaining his line to the plate, he sat 74-78 mph with his fastball flashing some cutting action off the barrel of right-handed hitter and hiding the ball well behind his body throughout the delivery, he showed better feel for a changeup early in his outing in the low 70's with arm side action and mixed in a curveball with more effectiveness in the third inning of work with 11-5 shape landing it in the zone. Right-handed hitter, starts with a narrow open stance, uses a toe tap trigger to time up the swing as he swing hard with the intent to pull the ball as the barrel gets out front, will find more consistently as he keeps the head still through the load and into contact. Excellent student.
