Ryan Hynes is a 2020 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Stony Brook, NY who attends Ward Melville Senior. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary left handed pitcher with smooth, fluid actions while working to balance. High leg lift to gather and created good lower half drive while working to the plate. Repeatable high three-quarters arm slot that generated good downward plane through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had proper shape with tight spin and solid depth in the mid 60's. Flashed a quality changeup with a deceptive arm speed that matched fastball. Changeup showed some fading action to arm side in the upper 60's. Consistently kept hitter off balanced while inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean footwork while centering the baseball. Smooth, fluid glove actions while funneling the baseball out front and working through exchange. Generated on line, accurate carry across the infield from a three-quarters arm slot. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear actions and a line drive swing plane. Flashed good feel for the barrel, consistently driving to the baseball to the middle of the field throughout batting practice. Generated some lift at contact when working out front and turning the barrel to baseball. Good student as well.
